THIS RED SQUIRREL MURAL MADE FROM TRASH WAS REMOVED

IT WAS BY BORDALO II

This really popular mural was located on the wall of Tara Street's old favourite Kennedy's Bar which has been relaunched as The Workshop Gastropub. The mural was removed in August 2019 as the pub was to be demolished to make way for a large hotel complex but it is now December 2023 and the pub is still operational even though all the surrounding buildings are gone.

Trash Animals is a series of streetart installations by Mr Bordalo II the talented Portuguese artist who creates, recreates, assembles and develops works of art with material that has been dumped, trashed or disposed of.

Through his art he directs us to consider sustainability, ecological and social awareness when we deal with end-of-life consumer products.

The artist chose the the endangered red squirrel because it is a species under threat from deforestation and a virus carried by the grey squirrel where its population is outnumbered six to one.
