They came to Church Street in 1690, shortly after the Battle of the Boyne and opened a \u201cMass house\u201d at the site of the present Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mass house was enlarged in 1796. The present Church dates from 1881. The architect was James J.McCarthy. The altar and reredos was designed by James Pearse, the father of P\u00e1draig and Willie Pearse who were executed after the 1916 Rising. It was friars from the Church Street community that attended those executed in 1916 and administered the last rites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today the friars serve the local community through parish work and through the Capuchin Day Centre. The Capuchin Mission Office which supports the work of the Irish friars overseas, in Zambia, South Africa, New Zealand and Korea is also located in Church Street. St Mary of the Angels is not a parish church, however, the Friars also have responsibility for Halston Street Parish, one of the oldest in Dublin City Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>History: Founded in 1690, shortly after the Battle of the Boyne. The present church dates back to 1881.<br>Community: Home to a community of Capuchin Franciscan friars who follow a life of prayer and service.<br>Activities: Offers regular masses, confessions, and other religious services. Also serves as the base for the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People, providing hot meals and support to those in need.<br>Significance: Important landmark in Dublin, known for its beautiful architecture, rich history, and commitment to social justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-vivid-purple-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-vivid-purple-background-color has-background\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><div id=\"metaslider-id-2121\" style=\"width: 100%;
