POINT TRAM STOP

DUBLIN DOCKLANDS

The Point Luas stop is the easternmost terminus of the docklands extension of the Luas Red Line light rail system. This Luas link to Tallaght connects the Point Village to other transport options, including the DART, suburban rail, Busáras, mainline rail, and the future Dublin Metro. The Dublin Port Tunnel southern portal is located nearby.

EXO BUILDING

AT THE POINT DEPOT

The Exo Building is a 17-storey office building located at the corner of North Wall Quay and East Wall Road in Dublin 1, Ireland. The building is adjacent to the Point Depot (now the 3Arena) fronting on to the river Liffey and Dublin port. As of 2021, it is the tallest office building in the Republic of Ireland at 73 metres tall. The name Exo is in reference to its exoskeleton which reflects the traditional industrial crane and gantry landscape of the port area.

THE CONCRETE SHELTER

AT THE PEOPLE'S FLOWER GARDENS

Unfortunately, when I search for information about this shelter all that I find are photographs that I have taken over the years so I must conclude that it is not considered to be of any real importance but I must admit that I like it so I will continue to photograph it.

JENNY'S CHAIR BY ALBENTY

AT MONTPELIER HILL

Albenty is an Irish street artist who is known for his colourful and playful murals. He often depicts animals, plants, and other natural elements in his work, and his pieces often have a whimsical or humorous touch. Albenty's work can be found all over Dublin, and he has also exhibited his work in galleries in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The noted mathematician, William Rowan Hamilton, who freed algebra from the commutative postulate of multiplication (that the order or sequence of factors does not determine the result), is commemorated by a plaque at Broom Bridge.

BROADSTONE TRAM STOP

IS IT ATTRACTING ANTI-SOCIAL ACTIVITY

I can use either one of two tram stops near me and I usually choose the one at Broadstone as the one on Dominick Street is less than safe because of ongoing drugs dealing in the immediate area (especially the old flats). If your search online you will find many negative comments about this particular stop. I have not encountered any specific incidences at this location but have encountered problems at the Jervis Tram Stop and at stops along the Grand Canal on the Red Line.

IT IS AN ART DECO STRUCTURE

I VISITED QUARRY ROAD IN ORDER TO PHOTOGRAPH THE CABRA GRAND CINEMA

Quarry Road was originally called Quarry Lane, after a small quarry which was situated near where the current statue of Our Blessed Lady is located at the roundabout with Fassaugh Road (originally Fassaugh Lane.) This quarry was filled in the early part of the 1900s and the family who lived in the Homestead grew cabbages on the reclaimed land.

CABRA LUAS TRAM STOP ON CONNAUGHT STREET

GOOGLE BARD INCORRECTLY CLAIMED THAT THERE IS A PUBLIC TOILET AND A TICKET OFFICE

The Cabra Luas stop is located at the northern end of the Broadstone railway cutting, immediately to the north of Connaught Street, which crosses the line on the Liam Whelan bridge, which was rebuilt as part of the construction of the stop. The main entrance is a long ramp leading from the eastern side of the bridge to the middle of the southbound platform (there are also stairs which lead from the middle of the ramp to the end of the platform). A second entrance consists of a pathway leading from the northern end of the stop to the nearby Mount Bernard Park.

LIMERICK FIRE SERVICE IN ACTION JUNE 2015

A GOOD EXAMPLE OF BLOCKING

The term “blocking” might also be described as the “safe parking” or “safe positioning” of emergency vehicles at roadway incidents. In the fire service, the term most often used is “block” or “blocking.” A block is when an emergency vehicle is used to protect an incident work area by parking across a lane or lanes of traffic. The unit should be stopped upstream of the incident area and parked at an angle across a lane or two of the roadway. In many cases, the shoulder of the road will be considered a lane if that is where the original incident is located. Parking at an angle makes it easier for approaching traffic to identify that your unit is stopped, parked and not moving. Units parked in line with traffic, even on the shoulder, are not as easy to identify as stopped and approaching traffic will often not recognise that the unit is parked instead of moving with traffic.

THE PUB THAT DIED BECAUSE OF A GANGLAND KILLING

MATT'S CABRA HOUSE

In April 2010, the pub was the scene of a gangland murder. Eamonn 'The Don' Dunne, a leading figure in the Dublin crime scene, was shot dead at the pub. Dunne was sitting with his 16-year-old daughter when he was attacked. He was shot twice in the head and a number of times in the body. His daughter was unharmed.
