{"id":152,"date":"2023-01-20T01:03:16","date_gmt":"2023-01-20T01:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10084\/?p=152"},"modified":"2023-01-20T01:03:16","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T01:03:16","slug":"formby-conningbeg-memorial-on-the-quays-in-waterford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/localhost:10084\/formby-conningbeg-memorial-on-the-quays-in-waterford\/","title":{"rendered":"FORMBY-CONNINGBEG MEMORIAL ON THE QUAYS IN WATERFORD"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PHOTOGRAPHED IN MAY 2016<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-vivid-red-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-vivid-red-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The Formby-Conningbeg Memorial: Honours the memory of those lost when two Waterford steamers SS Conningbeg and SS Formby were torpedoed in December 1917.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These vessels were sister ships, both homeward bound to Waterford from Liverpool in December 1917. They were torpedoed by the same U Boat within days of each other, with a total loss of 83 lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I photographed this sculpture back in August 2016 and reprocessed them in January 2023. I had planned to visit Waterford again in 2023 but I am unwilling to pay the prices that the hotels are currently charging.
